The Rutgers Pre-College Summer Dance Program collaborates with Rutgers Health Services. All students enrolled in the program have access to cost-free, routine health care at Rutgers Hurtado Health Center while attending the camp. Families of students who may need special services beyond routine care must provide payment or an insurance card. The sports medicine doctor and athletic trainer monitor dancer wellness daily during the summer program. Our summer dancer wellness team includes:
Dr. Philip Cohen is a physician with Rutgers Health Services with a specialty in sports medicine. Dr. Cohen has extensive experience treating Mason Gross dancers and will coordinate any care needed by the summer dance students.
Rose Currie is a Registered Nurse
Bethany Deeken is a Registered Nurse
Hollie Palmisano is a licensed athletic trainer with Rutgers Health Services. Ms. Palmisano works year round in the Mason Gross Dance Department and is responsible for monitoring the health and wellness of the dance majors and the summer students.
Brittany Cohen, EdM is a graduate of the Graduate Dance Education Program. Working along with the wellness team, Brittany helps to ensure that the summer students’ health needs are being met and accompanies any ill students to the Hurtado Health Center as necessary via taxi service.
Our program also collaborates with the Rutgers Graduate Dance Education Program. All of our counselors hold PK-12 teaching certificates in dance or are current graduate students enrolled in the teacher preparation degree program. Additionally, our counselors have certificates in:
